Guides to using Dilack
Get started with Dilack
Create an account and find your channels.
- Choose Log in or Create your space on the homepage. Email registration uses your name and a password of at least 12 characters. Apple, Google and GitHub appear when available.
- Create a server with + in the sidebar or accept an invitation. An account does not automatically grant access to someone else’s private server.
- Choose a voice channel for calls, a text channel for messages or a list channel for tasks when the Lists plugin is enabled.
Account and Dilack ID
Manage access and let friends find you.
- Under the profile gear, open Sign-in methods. Link a provider while signed in to the account you want to keep; accounts are not merged automatically by email.
- Use at least 12 characters when creating or changing a password. A first password requires verified email and a recent sign-in; changing an existing password requires the current one.
- Share your Dilack ID with people you want to receive friend requests from. Legacy ChatGPT accounts remain separate.
- If you lose access, email support@dilack.com. Email password recovery is not yet available.
Invitations and permissions
Control who joins your server.
- Use the invite and manage icon above the channel list. Available options depend on your role.
- Create an invitation with an expiration and use limit. The recipient must sign in and accept its link.
- Roles are owner, administrator, moderator and member. Channels can require a minimum role; a channel link does not replace an invitation.
- If an invitation expires, is revoked or reaches its limit, ask a server administrator for another.
Channels and rooms
Create, organize, personalize and delete channels.
- People who manage channels can use the server or room + to create voice and text channels and, with Lists enabled, list channels.
- Choose a name and emoji from the catalog or paste one. Channel descriptions are optional. Rooms group channels and have customizable icons too.
- Under Edit channel, choose a destination room or leave it ungrouped. Double-click a voice channel to join; your microphone and camera start off.
- To delete a text or voice channel, open its context menu or editor and confirm Delete channel. Deleting a text channel removes its content; deleting a voice channel disconnects participants and preserves linked text channels.
- Deleting a room preserves and reorganizes its channels. Read the confirmation before proceeding.
Messages and notifications
Follow conversations in text channels.
- Open a text channel to send messages, attachments and reactions. Unread counts appear on channels and their server.
- At the top of a channel, mark it read or unread. Choose All, Important or Mute notifications for each channel.
- People who manage channels can configure webhooks. Plugin and webhook messages follow the same retention period as other messages.
Collaborative lists
Organize items, assignees, due dates and comments.
- With Lists enabled, choose List as the type when creating a text channel. The type defines the channel structure.
- Add an item using the field at the bottom. Mark it complete, assign someone and set a due date.
- Use search and filters for open, completed, assigned-to-you or overdue items. Open one to add subtasks and comments.
- People who manage channels can create custom fields such as text, number, select, date, people, files, checkbox, email and phone.
- Items and comments follow the server retention period shown in the list header.
Official plugins
Enable extra features per server.
- Open Server plugins or the plugin catalog. Select a server to see Dilack’s native plugins and their permissions.
- Owners and administrators can install and configure plugins. Other members can use enabled features.
- Official plugins include Lists, Collaborative Whiteboard, Temporary Voice Channels, Music Room, Coffee Counter, Activity Status and Dropbox Archive.
- Read descriptions and permissions before installing. Some require extra setup, such as connecting Dropbox or setting a grace period.
Temporary voice channels
Create a channel that disappears when empty.
- With the plugin enabled, any member can use + and choose Temporary voice channel, including inside a room.
- When the last person leaves, the timer starts. Rejoining before the deadline cancels deletion.
- The default is 1 minute. Owners and administrators can set 15 seconds to 1 hour in plugin settings.
Friends, direct messages and groups
Talk outside server channels.
- Open Friends, search by Dilack ID and send a request. A conversation is available after the person accepts.
- Choose a friend to exchange messages or start a voice call. Unread indicators highlight new conversations.
- Create a group conversation by choosing friends. Its creator can rename it and manage members.
- Closing a conversation only hides it from view; the friendship and messages remain.
Microphone, headphones and sounds
Adjust audio without leaving the conversation.
- The microphone button controls transmission. The headphone button mutes incoming audio and temporarily disables your microphone.
- The arrows open input and output selection, volume and noise suppression. Output selection depends on the browser.
- Under Room sounds, adjust alerts for joining, leaving and media changes. Deafening also mutes these alerts.
- Use Leave call to disconnect. The user-uploaded soundboard remains paused.
Camera, screen and floating window
Present and follow other screens.
- In a voice channel, enable your camera or select Share screen and choose a tab, window or screen.
- Grid arranges participants; Focus enlarges one. Use the pin icon or Expand to change the view.
- On a presentation card, open floating-window options: Separate window, Mini or Tiny, depending on device support.
- Screen sharing does not include screen audio in this version. Stop it in Dilack or the browser when finished.
Collaborative whiteboard
Draw together and export the result.
- With Collaborative Whiteboard enabled, join a voice channel and open the board from the room controls.
- People in the same channel draw together and see live changes. Use the tools for strokes, shapes and images.
- Export PNG or SVG before the session ends if you need a copy. Content is discarded when everyone leaves.
Music Room
Build a shared queue for the call.
- With the plugin enabled, join a voice channel. In any text channel on the same server, send /play followed by a public YouTube link or direct HTTPS audio file.
- Use /queue to view the queue, /pause and /resume for playback, /skip to advance, /remove N to remove a position and /stop to stop.
- Each person plays the source on their own device. Some videos cannot be embedded; the source may receive a listener’s IP address.
- You can shrink, move or hide the video player.
Coffee and activity status
More options for your server community.
- With Coffee Counter enabled, voice participants can log coffees and view counts and history. Administrators can set the timezone.
- Activity Status is off by default for each person. Enable it in preferences to show a manual activity to members of servers with the plugin.
- The Mac app also recognizes selected games and coding editors. Status expires and does not read document names, code or window titles.
Data retention and Dropbox Archive
Learn when messages and files leave Dilack.
- The owner sets text-channel retention in Server settings. The default and maximum are 60 days; it can be reduced to 1 day.
- Expired messages, list items, comments and attachment references are removed. Shortening the period can delete older content immediately.
- With Dropbox Archive enabled and connected by an administrator, attachments are sent after posting. On cleanup, expired messages are exported as JSONL.
- Dilack deletes expired data even if export fails. Dropbox copies follow the connected account’s policy.
Manage participants
Move or disconnect people with the right role.
- Administrators and moderators can drag a participant into another voice channel they can access.
- Administrators can open a connected participant’s menu and choose Disconnect to remove them from the call.
- Moderation tools can also apply a ban or temporary timeout with a reason. Review the confirmation before acting.
SFU and TURN
Voice and video infrastructure for the server owner.
- In Server settings, the owner can use their Cloudflare account to enable SFU, which distributes media in larger calls, and TURN, which helps on restrictive networks.
- TURN changes apply to new connections. People already in a call must reconnect.
- SFU changes wait for voice rooms to empty. To apply one immediately, the owner can choose to disconnect everyone and confirm the impact.
- Check Cloudflare credentials and account usage before enabling these services.
Mac, Windows and updates
Use Dilack on a computer and load new versions.
- Dilack works in the browser and offers a Mac app. The Windows app is being prepared; its download button will appear on the homepage when an installer is published.
- When the site detects a new version, an update notice appears. Click it to reload the page and load the update.
- In the desktop app, follow the installed version’s update prompt. Finish your call before restarting or installing.
Language and appearance
Personalize your interface.
- Open the profile gear and choose Português or English and a theme under Preferences.
- Themes are Dilack, Nebula, Aurora and Breeze. Your choice is remembered in the browser.
- Translating the interface does not change names and descriptions created by other people.
I cannot hear or connect
Checks to get your call working again.
- Make sure you joined the channel, are not deafened and have output volume above zero.
- Check your selected device and browser and system permissions for microphone, camera and screen capture.
- Close other apps using the device, then try leaving and rejoining the channel.
- Corporate networks and VPNs may block direct connections. Try another network or ask the owner to check the server’s TURN setup.
- When reporting a problem, include browser, operating system, approximate time and reproduction steps. Never send passwords or tokens.

Open a ticket or email the team.
- Sign in at /tickets with your Dilack account, describe the issue and track the team’s replies.
- You can also email support@dilack.com and include any error shown.
- For privacy requests or reports, include enough information to locate the issue while avoiding unnecessary personal information.
